a.     This is a thoughtful and interesting paper on the relationship between Marxism and orthodoxy. The author aims to illustrate the compatibility of the two views. I found the discussion to be illuminating, especially as it relates to the spiritual nature of the human. The author does rely a bit heavily on direct quotation. I encourage the author to add some structure to the paper to lead the reader along. Also, the author may add some introductory remarks to bring the reader into his/her discussion.

Я, конечно, благодарен американским коллегам за то, что они потратили время на мое эссе "О благочестивом материализме и богомерзком идеализме" и за то, что они включили его тему в шорт-лист. Однако я написал эту работу не столько для участия в конкурсе, сколько потому, что я давно хотел ее написать, а конкурс Фонда Темплтона просто оказался хорошим поводом. Сейчас я здесь впервые обнародую свое эссе - тем более, что Пасха Христова для этого хороший день. В дальнейшем планирую доработать сей текст - превратить его в научную публикацию.
